Michael Sherar


Michael has been a national level, and now masters athlete with two M45 800m world championship gold medals, and M45 and M50 Canadian 800m records.  He is currently on the Board of Canadian Masters Athletics.  He is the parent of a Guelph athlete.


Professionally Michael is a healthcare executive and recently stepped down as President and CEO of Cancer Care Ontario.


Catherine Embree


Catherine is a proud parent of an elite triathlete who competed in both swimming and track & field. She served as the treasurer for the Guelph Marlins Aquatic Club for numerous years. Catherine is active in community support in the city of Guelph.


Professionally, Catherine is a CPA, CA partner in Caissa LLP, regional Chartered Professional Accountants firm.


Elizabeth Waywell


Born and raised in Guelph, Elizabeth is a Masters long distance runner and very competitive in her age category. A retired lawyer, Elizabeth has extensive experience with not-for-profit and volunteer organizations.

Adenike Abiodun

Athlete Representative & Executive Board

Nike is from Waterloo, Ontario. She is a second year student at the University of Guelph studying Economics, and is also a member of the Guelph Gryphons Varsity Track and Field team.  Her main event in track and field is sprint hurdles. Her role as an athlete representative is to be a liaison between the administration and athletes in order to bridge the gap. She is excited to be a part of this board in order to give some perspective to the board and a voice to fellow athletes.


Dontae Richards Kwok

Athlete Representative & Executive Board

Dontae is a relay bronze medalist at the 2013 World Championships and has been a member of several Canadian National Teams. Dontae has a wealth of experience at all levels of track and field and is also currently a sprints/relays assistant coach with the Guelph Gryphons.


Keegan Gaunt

Athlete Representative & Executive Board

Keegan is from Ottawa, Ontario. She is in her third year at the University of Guelph and is studying Management of Economics and Finance. Keegan is an endurance athlete on the Guelph Gryphons Varsity Track and Field Team. Also, she has ties to Para-Athletics as a visually impaired runner and is excited to bring new perspectives to help foster the established running community in Guelph. 


Gavin Hughes

Athlete Representative & Executive Board

Gavin Hughes is from Guelph, Ontario. He is a fourth year student studying Criminal Justice and Public Policy as well as a member of the Varsity Track and Field team at the University of Guelph. He has been apart of the running community in Guelph for eight years and has been apart of multiple championship teams. He is excited to represent the strong, competitive endurance community that exists in Guelph.


Andrew Catton

Executive Board

Andrew has been a runner since making the cross-country team in grade 4. He ran throughout high school in London, ON and university at Saint Francis University (PA). Andrew moved to Guelph in 2002 to train with the Speed River TFC. While living in Guelph, he became more involved in the running community, first as a race director, then by working in a local running store. In 2012, Andrew purchased the Running Works, Guelph’s only locally owned and operated running store. He has helped countless people throughout the community have a better running experience. 

Outside of running, Andrew spends his time with his wife raising their two children. 


Guy Champagne

Executive Board

Guy has lived in Guelph for 35 years, attending U of G completing a degree in Human Kinetics. Guy and his wife have two daughters with their youngest currently studying Human Kinetics at U of G. They are a true Gryphon family! Guy works as a bilingual disability analyst for the Ontario Teacher’s Insurance Plan. 

Guy was a member of the Guelph Girls Hockey association for 15 years serving on the board of directors as convenor and coach. Sports and athletics has been and continues to be a big part of their family’s life. They love the outdoors including camping with friends on Lake Huron.


Holly Dolan

Executive Board

Holly is a Guelph Victor and has been a runner most of her life. She has lived in the Guelph community for over 18 years in total and she and her husband have two school-aged children. Holly is a Manager in the Agriculture Development Branch at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA).  She currently serves on the Leadership Committee of the Guelph Victors and chairs the Victory Kids Club Board of Directors.  Holly has a keen interest in supporting Guelph’s diverse running community and in helping to build sport as part of healthy kids, adults and communities.  


Ken Kudo

Executive Board

Originally from London, Ontario, Ken moved to Guelph in 1989 to work with the Design, Engineering and Construction department at the University of Guelph. Married to Nicole Kudo, Ken has two athletic daughters, Alexandra and Catrina.


Ken has been active in the local running community for many years. He competed as an age group triathlete from 1990 to 2002, and as a Masters Track and Field athlete from 2003. Ken volunteers at local track meets. And currently has coaching certifications in minor hockey and officiating certification in swimming.


Paul McNamara

Executive Board

Paul was a teacher of Drama, Business and Religion at St. James CHS for 30 years where he was also Department Head for the Arts.  Paul continues to  coach cross-country and track & field at St. James.  


Paul is a volunteer coach with the sprint group at Royal City AC. He is a Certified Club Coach in Throws, and a track and field official with Athletics Ontario. Paul recently retired from serving on the finance & property committee at St. Joseph’s parish in Guelph.
